Cost of Attendance Definition
Cost of Attendance (COA) is the estimated cost to attend SDSU during the nine-month academic year.
While your individual costs may vary, the COA reflects a modest, adequate living allowance. Your individual circumstances, discretionary expenses, or spending styles may not be the same as the standard COA.
Your financial aid award will be based on the standard COA. In some cases, certain documented expenses can be considered for an adjustment to increase your student or parent loan. Refer to how to request an increase.
University Housing Costs
Be aware of the costs for the choices you make. Your selection of room type (single or double) and meal plan may affect how much you or your parents must borrow or pay using your own funds.
- The room type and meal plan costs are available on the Office of Housing Administration Web site.
The COA for living in university housing reflects a standard allowance for living with a roommate for the nine-month academic year.
Some residents, returning for another year, receive a special discounted rate. Their standard allowance for room and meals is substantially reduced and their financial aid award is adjusted to reflect the discounted cost.
Cost of Attendance Tables
The California State University (CSU) makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Tuition and fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial tuition and fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester has begun. all CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.
Official university tuition and fees can be found on the Student Account Services Web site.
Amounts shown are for full-time enrollment for the nine-month academic year.
Less than full-time enrollment may change your award amount.
